offer wine tastings and tours. Whether you are a wine expert or novice, these

Carolina Mudcats
Nothing says summer quite like America’s favorite pastime-
baseball! The Carolina Mudcats are a
minor league baseball team based in Zebulon, North Carolina. They’ve been in
the triangle area since 1978 and play all of their home games at Five County
Stadium. The team’s schedule runs through the summer and would make an
excellent weekend excursion for sports fans of any age. Check out their
schedule here.
Adventure
Landing
Searching for something to do with your grand kids? Look
no further than Adventure Landing. This
exciting place includes go-karts, adventure golf, laser tag, batting cages, and
more. Whatever your age, there is something for you to enjoy. The pricing
varies depending on what activities you choose to enjoy, or you can purchase a
whole day package for approximately $10. They also offer a 10 percent discount
for seniors, military personnel, and veterans.
State
Recreation Areas
If you want to be outdoors this summer season, Raleigh has
plenty of places to choose from. Whatever activity you want to enjoy, one of
the parks in the area can accommodate you.
Umstead State Park: This 5,579 acre park is easily accessible from
Interstate 40 and US 70. There are more than 20 miles of trails to enjoy,
ranging from short walks to long, extensive hikes. There is also Big Lake,
where you can rent a boat or canoe, or go fishing.
Falls Lake State Recreation Area: Falls Lake is a great
way to escape the city for a day or two. With a 12,000 acre lake and 26,000
acres of land to explore, you are sure to find something to please you here. In
the water, you can enjoy swimming, fishing, and boating. On land, there are
various trails to choose from and places for picnicking and camping.
Jordan Lake State Recreation Area: Jordan Lake boasts one
of the most unique activities in the Raleigh area: bald eagle watching! This
lake supports the largest concentration of bald eagles in the eastern United
States. While the best time of year to spot the eagles is in the spring, there
is always the chance to see them in the summer as well. This lake also offers
hiking trails, camping, swimming, and more.
Golf
Courses
It wouldn’t be summer without a round of golf, and this
area has plenty of courses to choose from. The 2014 US Open was hosted at
nearby Pinehurst. If you don’t want to travel quite that far, you have plenty
of closer options, including:
Lonnie Poole Golf Course at NC
State University
And more!
Antiques
Raleigh and the surrounding area have an abundance of
antique stores to meet everyone’s unique style and budget. Getting out and
discovering, one-of-a-kind items is a great summer activity. Below are just a
few of the area antique stores and thrift shops in the area:

Stagville
State Historic Site
For history lovers, there’s a great Civil War-era
plantation to visit in Durham. This historic site is one of the largest
plantations of the pre-Civil War South. Stretched across almost 30,000 acres, Stagville State Historic Site once
belonged to the Bennehan-Cameron family. This plantation gives a glimpse into
North Carolina and America’s past. It’s free to enjoy and you can explore the
grounds on your own or enjoy a tour.
Whatever you choose to do this summer, we hope you have a
wonderful time!
