This Sunday is Father’s
Day! Before you pick out a card, buy another tie, and head out to eat the exact
same brunch as last year with your family, be sure to check out all of the
great local events happening for Father’s Day weekend.
Father’s Day at
Springmoor
If you’re looking to stay
close to home, join the staff and residents as they celebrate Father’s Day with
their families on campus.
On Sunday, Springmoor is
hosting a Father’s Day social at 2:30 p.m. in the Great Room. This is an event for the Springmoor community
and their guests to come together, enjoy refreshments, and celebrate the day.
Father’s Day Around
Town
If you’re looking to go
out, there are many events happening in the nearby Raleigh community during Father’s
Day weekend that are sure to entertain all of the fathers looking for something
to do.
On Saturday, be sure to
take Dad to the Classics and Antique Charity Car Show in downtown Wake Forest. This
free event benefits several local charities such as Wounded Warriors of Wake County, Hospice of Wake County, and
the Miracle League of the Triangle.
Is your father a golf fan? If so,
your family should head to the Callaway Golf Demo on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3
p.m. at the Capitol Golf Center in Wake Forest. Admission to the Golf Center is
free, and visitors are allowed to test the latest Callaway golf equipment, ask
advice from golf experts, and even receive 15 percent off on Callaway products.
If your
dad loves museums, be sure to head to the North
Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh, where your family can spend the
day appreciating exhibits dedicated to sea creatures, weather anomalies, and
other assorted wildlife. Even ride the “butterfly zip line” in the brand new
Rainforest Adventure exhibit.
Is
your dad a sports fan? If so, there is
no doubt that on Father’s Day you should head to the North Carolina Sports Hall
of Fame. Admission is free, and the tour
of the Hall includes a look at a number of interesting sports uniforms,
equipment, and other memorabilia.
For the dad who is a music
lover, head out later in the evening to the Raleigh Little Theater for the
third annual Paul Montgomery Memorial Father’s Day Jazz Concert.
For the price of $10, enjoy the musical talent of Second Line Stompers, the Triangle Youth Jazz Ensemble, and the Heart of
Carolina Jazz Orchestra.
